HIST 101: HIST OF THE UNITED STATES to 1877 - "The Unfinished Revolution"

In this project, students explored how Americans during the Revolutionary era understood and practiced key democratic norms, and what the successes and failures of those norms reveal about the consequences of the American Revolution. Drawing on historical sources as well as contemporary perspectives, students conducted interviews with friends, family members, and professionals to examine how these ideals continue to shape civic life today. By connecting readings from The Atlantic and Richard Haass’s The Bill of Obligations to lived experience, students traced the enduring tensions between democratic principles and practice, highlighting both the promises and limits of the Revolution.
