More than a repository of readings or assignments, this site is designed as an active learning environment where you will practice the work of historians. You will analyze primary sources, evaluate competing interpretations, trace change and continuity over time, and build evidence-based arguments about the American past. Throughout the course, we will ask not only what happened, but how we know, why interpretations differ, and how historical narratives are shaped by power, perspective, and context. By engaging with these questions, you will strengthen critical thinking skills that extend beyond the classroom and into civic and professional life.
