Instructions
For Component 3, your group will create one shared visual map or flow diagram that shows how your commodity moved through global systems of production, trade, and power.
Your map must visually represent:
- Production regions (where the commodity was grown/extracted)
- Labor systems (who did the work and under what conditions)
- Trade routes (how it moved around the world)
- Imperial or corporate power (who controlled the system)
- Sites of coercion or extraction (where violence or exploitation occurred)
β οΈ This is a Planning Worksheet: Use this page to gather your ideas and plan what will go on the map. Your actual visual map can be created using:
- Digital tools (Canva, Google Drawings, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Hand-drawn poster (photographed for submission)
- Any visual format that clearly shows the connections
π‘ Example Elements to Include:
- Arrows showing flow of goods and money
- Color coding for different analytical lenses
- Labels for key locations, dates, and actors
- Icons or symbols representing different types of power
- Timeline or chronological elements if relevant
Synthesis & Connections
π‘ Remember: Your final visual map should integrate insights from ALL four analytical lenses. Work with your group to ensure everyone's research is represented!
